hello lybrate user In the case of irregular menses you should do unprotected sex upto starting 10 days from the first day of cycle and after 25 th day to the next cycle. you must avoid unprotected sex for 2 weeks incbetween 10th to 25 th day. in a broad term you can divide your cycle in three equal parts. mid part of cycle should be avoided to have unprotected sex. if you have cycle of 36 days mid 12 days should be avoided.

The rhythm method, also called the calendar method or the calendar rhythm method, is a form of natural family planning. To use the rhythm method, you track your menstrual history to predict when you'll ovulate. This helps you determine when you're most likely to conceive. A menstrual cycle is calculated from the first day of your period to the first day of the next period (1). Safe period is from day 1 to 7 and day 21 to the rest of the cycle, when you can have sex without worrying about getting pregnant. This period will not be the same for all women as it depends on the length of the menstrual cycle. The average menstrual cycle is 28 days or a little less, but if your cycle is longer than 28 days, the safe period is not reliable.
