Hello sir. Swelling in the lids can be benign like chalazion, stye, cyst or in rare cases, can be cancerous too. An eye doctor will like to further examine you in details for the diagnosing your swelling. Benign swellings can be treated by medications, but may require minor surgery to remove it if no relief is achieved with medicines alone. Kindly provide a photograph so as to give more clue about the same. I am available for online consultation for further queries and appropriate medicine prescription for your concerns. Hope this helps. Thank you.

Chalazion, also known as meibomian cyst, is a cyst in the eyelid caused by inflammation of the blocked meibomian gland. Meibomian glands are sebaceous glands on the eyelid that produce an oily substance that prevents evaporation of the eye’s tear film and lubricates the eye. A most common condition resembling chalazion is the sty. The major difference between the two is that chalazion forms away from the lid margin and is painless, while a sty forms at the eyelid margin and is painful. Under the conventional mode of treatment, surgical removal of the chalazion is advised. However, Homeopathy can treat chalazion very successfully in a non-invasive manner, taking a natural, gentle, yet effective approach. Homeopathic medicines dissolve the chalazion and treat the tendency towards its recurrence.

Yes It is true that Chalazion doesn't go away with medical treatment as it a pus encapsulated in deeper layers of lid unlike stye Which is superficial infection with a pus point on skin. Chalazion is usually due to chronic eye strain mostly from Refractive error (glasses no.) And usually patient is not wearing glasses or wearing wrong prescription glasses. So the cause must be treated so that there is no recurring Chalazion. I prefer to give hot fomentation trial for every case of Chalazion too. If it is a recent onset one then with correct glasses & hot fomentation somethimes the Chalazion may reduce. You can try it.
