Hi lybrate-user Your breasts are getting ready for feeding the baby. It is normal. Do not express or squeeze them. Use a breast pad if it it too much or staining your clothes. If you feel any pain in abdomen, go see the doctor.

Nature starts milk production as soon as woman is pregnant. Few decades ago squeezing breasts to look for fluid through nipples was a test for pregnancy you are also getting ready for delivery and for lactation colostrum is first few drops after delivery of the baby. It's present just after delivery and stays on for few days no need to worry because of discharge get ready for feeding the baby and remember to start right after delivery. Put cheeks on breast, milk flows by cheek reflex and suckling increases the flow.

Please note that it is not normal to have discharge from the nipple. It is normal only while breastfeeding. This problem could be stress related because of which you have some hormonal imbalance and in result breast discharge. You need to get your blood test to be carried out to check all your hormones in place or not also a physical examination of breast need to be done to know the exact cause of problem.

Hi, Sometimes, milky secretion fromm the nipples is seen in some unmarried and non-pregnant ladies due to harmonal imbalance or severe stress. Please check your serum prolactin levels and get an U/S scan of the breasts done to rule out any pathology. Consult a breast specialist for further management.

Nipple discharge refers to any fluid that seeps out of the nipple of the breast. Nipple discharge in a woman who's not pregnant or breast-feeding isn't necessarily abnormal, but it should be evaluated by a doctor. Nipple discharge in a man under any circumstances could be a problem and needs further evaluation. One or both breasts may produce a nipple discharge, either spontaneously or when you squeeze your nipples or breasts. A nipple discharge may look milky, or it may be clear, yellow, green, brown or bloody. Nonmilk discharge comes out of your breasts through the same nipple openings that carry milk. The consistency of nipple discharge can vary — it may be thick and sticky or thin and watery.

Please note that this condition can result from taking certain medications such as birth control pills or anti-depressants, from being pregnant or recently being pregnant, from low thyroid hormone levels, trauma to chest or rarely from a small benign (not cancerous) pituitary tumor. Your body may be making extra amounts of prolactin, which can cause this white discharge from your nipples.
