Hello, thanks for the query. Madam, I am sure your doctor must have informed about what steps need to be taken during pregnancy for a hypothyroid patient. During the gestation period (9 months of pregnancy) it is essential to test thyroid profile once a month (once every 4 weeks). Because tsh needs to be specifically monitored. In 1st trimester it should be 0.1 to 2.5 mu/l, 2nd trimester 0.2 to 3.00 mu/l & in 3rd trimester 0.3 to 3 mu/l for appropriate growth and for normal or expected out come of pregnancy. Now as your tsh is much higher than the recommended range, increase the dosage of levothyroxine to 25 mcg per day. Then check the levels again after 4 weeks. If you have any questions please do come back. Thanks.

No .thyroid as such is good for the development of a baby and there is generally an increased requirement of it during pregnancy (for fetus of course). Less levels of thyroid is bad but a slight excess would not affect.

Hello, thanks for the query. Madam I have seen the details. The tsh levels mentioned are definitely higher than what should be normally seen at your age. This is suggestive of sub-clinical hypothyroidism. In many cases of sub-clinical hypothyroidism no treatment is advised. However, if there are obvious symptoms of hypothyroidism seen like weight gain, irregular menstrual cycles, lethargy, feeling of tiredness, no interest in doing routine things, dry skin, muscle and joint pains and hair loss etc, then treatment is advised. Another important aspect is to check anti tpo antibodies, if that number is high then even with low rise in tsh can lead to clear hypothyroidism. So please come back with specific details if you are keen in getting a proper advise and/or treatment. It is better if you come back with all the details like height, weight, t3, t4 and anti tpo antibodies level and symptoms if any in a private conversation. Then I will be able to advise specifically and also prescribe the drug if required. Or else please contact your physician locally I hope things are clear. Thanks.

Hello, thanks for the query. I have seen the details mentioned. I understand that you have long standing hypothyroidism and taking 75 mcg of levothyroxine. However, there is no information on the tsh, t4 & t3 levels, so it is not known whether the dosage is adequate or not. Secondly taking ajowan powder, there is absolutely no issue if you are feeling fine about it. Only point to be remembered is to take levothyroxine tablet first on empty stomach and then after 1 hour the powder can (should be) taken. Since there is no information on hormonal levels, no further comments can be made. You have also not given any information on presence of any symptoms, weight, height, dietary details and lipid profile. Thanks.
