There is no effective treatment for the majority of becker naevi. However, the dark brown colour is less obvious if the affected area is kept out of the sun so that it doesn't tan. The excessive hairs can be reduced by repeated treatments with a hair removal laser or by electrolysis.

There are two main types of birthmarks, which have different causes: vascular birthmarks happen when blood vessels don't form correctly. Either there are too many of them or they're wider than usual. Pigmented birthmarks are caused by an overgrowth of the cells that create pigment (color) in skin.
Let's connect over a call so that we can discuss your concern in details and make a suitable treatment plan for you.

Some birthmarks are suitable for surgical excision, which will completely remove the birthmark but will leave a scar. If you are interested in surgical treatment you will need to see a plastic surgeon. Your gp may be able to advise you further. Some birthmarks are suitable for laser treatment to fade the brown pigment.
