Bruxism is grinding of the teeth without a functional purpose. Bruxism can occur during wakefulness or during sleep (termed as ‘sleep bruxism’). Bruxism is considered to have multifactorial etiology. It has been associated with factors such as tooth interference in dental occlusion, psychosocial influences such as stress or anxiety.
