Hello doctor. My wife and I are planning to have a baby. This would be our second child. We have a daughter earlier and she is 4 years old now. She was born with symptoms of autism. Fortunately, symptoms were not much and she is leading an almost normal life as she is growing up. But we are afraid if something same happens with our second child. Doctor please tell me are there any preventions for autism spectrum disorder?

No, there are no preventive measures that can be taken for autism spectrum disorder. A child is normally born with this disorder. However, there are treatments available that help in controlling the symptoms.

Usermy father aged 64, has a medical history of bipolar disorder since past 5 years, he is on continuous medication and his condition is also improved. For last 1 year he is also on medication for high bp and also experiencing constipation .since last 1 week his constipation has become severe bp is rising and most importantly he is going through memory lost and also not responding much to conversations. What could be the reason for this?

I think your daughter may be treated for Bipolar 1. I suggest you take her immediately to a counselor and treat her with talk therapy too. In her later adolescence, there are likely to be some unresolved issues that may go as far as prenatal influences. It comes up at this time seeking a resolution. I am 43 years old unmarried woman. I am 78 kgs and 5' 2 inches. I am diagnosed with bipolar disorder. I feel anxiety. Mujhe dar lagta rehta hai. Mujhe ghabrahat hoti rehti hai. Mera mood off rehta hai. Mera kaam karne ka mann nahin karta. I feel no motivation to do any work. I am taking divaa - 500 mg two times daily, sizodon ls one time at night and ativan 2 mg daily one time at night. I am taking etilaam 0.5 for ghabrahat. Mujhe yeh medicines lena ke baad bhi motivated feel nahin ho raha. Is this treatment right?

Discuss your symptoms with your treating psychiatrist and get the medications revised if they do not help even after taking for a month or so. Many times it is difficult for the psychiatrist to get all the symptoms under control in one go, so give him/ her time and for most the symptoms subside over a period of time. Even after say 3-6 months you still feel unsatisfied, get a second opinion. Good luck.

Definitely Not !!! Homeopathy medicines are based on whole symptomatology that you have provided at the time of consultation. If you are using medicines form 2 doctors for the same condition, then there are chances that both medicines will antidote each other and both will not work.

Since 3 years I am on one antipsychotic (luracidone 40 mg half a day) with minimal doses and bipolar is total in control now. No any bipolar complaint now. But I have constipation doe to antipsychotic side effects so I want to know tht can I take himalaya herbolax lifelong for the constipation as I have to be on bipolar meds lifelong. Namaste, my 9 year son diagnosed as asd at the age 3.6 and he is non speech also since july 2022 am giving him axepta 10 and risperidone .75 ml .his hyperactivity like hand shaking jumping running reduced most but hypo sensitivity is presence. Niw my question is can reduce the dosage of axepta 10 tab like can I give him 1/2 tab per day coz now a days if I give ful tab he feel sleepy not attentive. And now risperidone reduced to .5 ml.

Hi lybrate-user I think you should contact your doctor for these changes. 5 mg of axepta may not really help with anything. You should reduce risperidone further if you want but continue the axepta. Once again, refer to and trust your childâs doctor on this one
