Last Updated: Nov 15, 2024

What is the treatment?

‘Ayurveda’ is made from two terms Ayur (life) and Veda (science); referring to ‘science of life’. It is an ancient medicinal science with its roots in India. It is a way of healing that makes use of only the substances naturally occurring in environment and no artificial chemicals. The medications in this treatment are not prescribed only on the basis of the signs and symptoms being seen or felt. In Ayurveda, the root cause of an illness is diagnosed and the treatment is done accordingly. This ensures that the trouble does not return to the patient’s body in future.

How is the treatment done?

Naturally occurring herbs like amla, turmeric, guggul, aloe vera, brahmi, eucalyptus, cardamom, garlic, flax seed, neem, sandalwood, saffron, peepal, tulsi and many others are used as Ayurvedic herbs to cure different injuries, diseases and disorders. Amla is used to control diabetes and hypertension, to improve eyesight and as a component in hair and skin masks. Turmeric is a great immunity booster along with healing wounds and acne spots. It also helps in digestion and cutting cholesterol. Sandalwood is an excellent cure to prickly heat and also helps in the rejuvenation of skin. Tulsi, the most commonly found herb in Indian households, helps in reducing stress, respiratory problems, blood cholesterol level and kidney stones. It also helps in fighting common cold and fever. Similarly, different herbs are used in treating different injuries, diseases or disorders in Ayurveda without the use of chemicals.
