My son (13 years) has been diagnosed with bipolar depression. He is having this problem for last 2 years, but has been diagnosed 4 months ago. He is on medication. He is not going school for last 4 months, not ready to study at home n had severe phobia for studies n exams. Tried all methods but no counselling is working for him. Not only studies but other aspects of life are also affected. He has a great phobia of “IF”. Like if I will fail the exams, if this will happen, that will happen n so on. He is very much stressed about future results. Understands the situation but when it comes to studies or going school he gets panicked n feels helpless. After that he has guilt feelings also for not going to school. I have checked other aspects also but he says that it’s all about studies. He had been a brilliant student. 2 years ago v moved to Gurugram. He scored well in exams except one subject (due to festival n family gathering). And teacher passed on a comment regarding less marks.

This is a very early manifestation of bipolar and therefore it is very serious. You must persevere and do some handholding to make functional. If he does not do his normal chores, his condition can only deteriorate. Apart from the medication he needs to go for emotional therapy and deal with his anger in particular. If there are genetic reasons for his condition and any childhood experiences that contributed to his condition, he needs to deal with that in therapy. When the anger is turned inward...more

Your doctor may prescribe lithium for long periods of time (months or years). It's important to continue treatment, even when you feel well. Lithium is not a cure, but it is able to help control symptoms and prevent relapse while you are taking it. For probable betterment by alternative, pl talk in details by booking audio or video call.

Good afternoon, first of all, seizure activity itself would cause great harm to the brain, hence the precipitating factor (here fever) needs to be controlled. N secondly, after frisium, the child may feel drowsy, it's a common side effect, she would get fine within 1-2 days.

I think your daughter may be treated for Bipolar 1. I suggest you take her immediately to a counselor and treat her with talk therapy too. In her later adolescence, there are likely to be some unresolved issues that may go as far as prenatal influences. It comes up at this time seeking a resolution. But unfortunately not many are aware of this and will go untreated and compound the disorder. Both parents must also accompany her to help trace the problems encountered in childhood. There are certa...more

Discuss your symptoms with your treating psychiatrist and get the medications revised if they do not help even after taking for a month or so. Many times it is difficult for the psychiatrist to get all the symptoms under control in one go, so give him/ her time and for most the symptoms subside over a period of time. Even after say 3-6 months you still feel unsatisfied, get a second opinion. Good luck.

Dear lybrate-user, amisulpride causes constipation as it decreases speed of intestines.
I do not know your condition for which you are taking. Amisulpride causes weight gain too.
I suggest you ask your psychiatrist for ssri as most atypical antipsychotic like amisulpride causes constipation.
You do not have to worry if there are other symptoms. Simply change of medication will reverse the symptoms.
I wish you all the best.

Hello
Kanchan

In this relationship you both have love in past and have same feeling right now after long time.
As you both have personal life and have family and responsibility

It's not necessary if you love someone and you can get him or her as a life partner but you can still keep relationship as a good friend and have to keep a limit in mind.

Good friendship is a best solution. But don't try to cross limit and don't think to get him
Just be happy as some...more
