Blepharoplasty: Treatment, Procedure, Cost and Side Effects

Blepharoplasty is a cosmetic procedure concerning the eye of the patient. This procedure is generally used to improve the aesthetic look of the eye. Many people suffer from puffiness, dark circles and other disorders of the of eye, which may be caused due to underlying conditions. In some cases, fatty deposits may be formed on the upper eyelid. This can damage the overall appearance and attractiveness of a face.

Even though sutures are used to close off the incision, this stitch may cause certain side effects. For instance, some people may experience itching and difficulty sleeping due to the sutures. Similarly, the scarring from the incision may take quite a while to disappear completely.

Other side effects include the swelling and bruising of the region. This may be painful for some people and may take some time to heal. Blurred vision is also an additional side effect from the surgery, which may affect certain people.

The surgery requires a very small incision on the eyelids. Generally, patients who undergo Blephoraplasty usually recover in just a couple of days. The wound starts to heal and after a week or two, doctors will remove the sutures. The scarring may stay for a while, but the overall pain and incision will heal in just a few days after surgery.

The treatment price can vary from one place to the other within India. However, since this is a very minor surgery, people can undergo it without spending too much. Depending on where you seek treatment, the cost incurred by you would be around Rs. 2,500 to Rs. 6,000.

Results of the surgery are not permanent and can return at a later date. For instance, the fatty deposits may reappear once the surgery is complete. The under-eye wrinkles may also come back after the surgery if proper care is not maintained. However, people are free to undergo Blepharoplasty surgeries as many times as they want.
