People who have obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) have multiple episodes during the night in which they stop and restart breathing. This disorder usually affects middle-age to older adults, but it can occur in patients of any age, particularly people who are obese. People with OSA typically have high blood pressure, particularly on waking up, when their blood pressure should be at its lowest point. Symptoms of OSA include daytime sleepiness, loud snoring, morning headache, and difficulty in concentrating. They may be observed gasping suddenly during the night before returning to sleep.
Getting enough sleep is vital
Sleep is critical for maintenance of your overall health. If you haven’t been sleeping adequately, then you are at a serious risk of suffering from hypertension and other related issues. Keep a regular count of your blood pressure in the morning. It should be at its lowest level and if it’s elevated, you should see your doctor. You must also put a full stop to bad habits like smoking, drinking, poor diet plans etc. Brining healthy changes in your lifestyle can be of great help in improving your condition.
