Cancer Cells Manipulate Body s Circadian Clock To Survive, Study Shows!

Cancer cells use Unfolded Protein Response (UPR) to slow protein synthesis when needed, in order to, suppress body’s circadian clock, which enables them to survive in conditions that would kill normal cells, states a research conducted by the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in the US.
Circadian clock of the body is the 24-hour physiological process cycle and is important in determining the sleeping and feeding patterns of human beings.
“What a tumor cell is doing is taking a pathway that is already in the cell and using it to its advantage,” said J Alan Diehl, senior researcher on the paper published in the journal Nature Cell Biology.
