Diet Chart For reduce uric acid
Last Updated: Dec 20, 2024
About
In some patients, it is seen that if you reduce uric acid, you may be able to reduce blood pressure. This could be a way people develop hypertension. Uric acid builds up in high amount when the body makes too much of it or fails to excrete. The level of uric acid raises in the blood if it doesn't efficiently get disposed. And so, it is very important to keep your diet in check to reduce and maintain its content in the body.
The diet to reduce uric acid include:
- The liberal fluid intake to keep the urine dilute.
- Lower fat intake helps too as excess fat reduces normal excretion of uric acid.
- Although, it is always advised to restrict alcohol to the patients.
- Red meat, shellfishes, meat extracts, organ meats, whole pulses (Masur, rajmah, chhole, etc.) should be avoided.
The diet to reduce uric acid is simple:
- Use less salt while cooking.
- It is always better to use adjuncts like tomato, vinegar, amchur, lime juice, and pepper powder to make the food cooked with less salt palatable.
- Even you should avoid salted nuts/biscuits, papads, pickles, and chutneys. But, while doing these, you should always keep in mind that overdosing on salt substitutes might cause an electrolyte imbalance.
- Some foods recommended consuming include fresh cherries, strawberries, bananas, celery, tomatoes, vegetables (including cabbage and parsley), low-fat dairy products, chocolates, cocoa, coffee, tea, etc.
- Fresh fruits and vegetables are encouraged to increase alkalinity in the blood of the patients.

Food Items To Limit

- Cauliflower: Cauliflower is a bland vegetable and is rich in the uric acid. They also have nutrients that can reduce insulin resistance that plays an important role in controlling the gout flare-ups.
