It is very important to know recent past history of any sort of fever, infection or any medicine taken. Blood reports are also required to make any diagnosis. Please mention height and weight of your father and symptoms also. It is very important to diagnose the case properly. It is recommended to avoid home remedies for liver and spleen till the problem is diagnosed and your father must take light diet with little fats and low salt along with exercises or morning walk.

An enlarged spleen can be caused by infections, cirrhosis and other liver diseases, blood diseases characterized by abnormal blood cells, problems with the lymph system, or other conditions.Chemotherapy is used for hematologic malignancies. Antibiotics are used for infection, with the exception of infection associated with a splenic abscess; this requires surgical intervention. Immunosuppression is used for autoimmune or inflammatory disorders, treatment of cirrhosis, and CHF
