Tumescent liposuction is the most commonly used and the most effective method for liposuction. A heavy amount of medicated solution is injected in the areas before the fat is removed. The process is more safe, and less painful and has a quick recovery time. The procedure is outpatient and does not require the use of general anesthesia.

Liposuction can be both major or minor. There are rare chances of some serious complications related to abdominal perforations, fluid imbalance and blood loss, drug toxicity, reactions to anesthesia, and pulmonary embolism. The severity of liposuction surgery also depends on the amount of body fat to be removed.

Liposuction is a form of cosmetic surgery that utilizes a suction technique to facilitate the removal of fat from the body. Usually, the process involves insertion of cannula which are essentially thin, small and blunt tubes into the skin and is connected to an aspirator (suction device). Being an outpatient procedure, liposuction does not require an overnight stay at the hospital. Usually, local anaesthesia is administered unless the amount of fat that needs to be worked on is large.
