Hello. I am Dr. Shaurya Rohatgi. Practicing dermatologist in Mumbai. I will be talking about fungal infections, which is a very common problem in today’s time. Although it can affect any part of the body but most commonly if affects the private parts, such as inner thighs, grime, and buttock area. The treatment of fungal infection is very simple. We have to prescribe anti-fungal drugs for 4 to 6 weeks following which it resolves. These days fungal infection has become a chronic and recreant problem. It initially subside with treatment only to reoccur back after a due days. The most common reason for reoccurrence of fungal infection is the use of steroid containing combination creams. These creams are available over the counter and are also used on the advice of local chemist or relatives. Please do not use such steroid containing combination creams such as pandom, Quandrium, betnovate, candidB. Hazole, ZoleF, Dermifive. Failure to follow up and use of cheap generic anti-fungal drugs is another cause of reoccurrence disease. If you follow the dermatology advice carefully and follow up regularly on time fungal infection can easily be cured.
