Hypertension is usually called a silent killer. The reason behind this is that the person with the condition will normally not feel the symptoms in any form. At the same time, when the symptoms are not noticed, it may lead to many life-threatening conditions, such as kidney failure by damaging the internal organs as well as the cardiovascular system of the body. Thus, it is vital for a person to check the levels of blood pressure periodically to stay away from such severe conditions.

Common symptoms of hypertension include:

  • Anxiety

  • Sweating

  • Difficult in sleeping

  • Facial flushing

  • Dull headaches

  • Dizzy spells

  • Shortness of breath

Often most people do not feel any kind of symptoms of the condition. However, when the levels of blood pressure reach the dangerous hypertensive stage, an individual may suffer from frequent nosebleeds and severe headaches.

The complications of hypertension may range from mild to harsh, according to the severity and the period of the condition. This means that, when an individual suffers from the condition for a longer period of time, it can create health problems through atherosclerosis, where a mass of plaque will be formed, which will make the blood vessels thinner. This will further worsen hypertension because the heart of the person will not get enough amount of blood to perform its pumping function.

Some of the complications that are associated with hypertension include:

  • Heart attack and heart failure

  • The artery wall may become abnormally swollen, which can even burst, resulting in heavy blood loss, and in some situations, it may even lead to death

  • Stroke

  • Kidney failure

  • Amputation

  • Vision loss due to hypertensive eye retinopathies

Moreover, following a flexible and balanced diet plan will help a person substantially in improving his or her overall health. Thus, the person will be capable of,

  • Decreasing the levels of his/her blood pressure

  • Improving the levels of the good fats in his/her bloodstream

  • Mitigating the danger of suffering from cardiovascular diseases

Testing the levels of the blood pressure regularly will considerably help in staying away from the above-mentioned complications. Taking healthy supplements will also significantly reduce the complications of hypertension.
