If BP is significantly high it may need medications definitely. The other means to control BP in addition are to reduce extra salt intake in our daily diet like pickles/ papads/ processed foods. Etc. Keep salt intake less than 6 gram per day. Regular walk and exercise in addition to relaxation practices like pranayama and meditation may help.

You need further check ups to determine the cause of high BP before opting to take or not to take any medicines. Please check your B.P in the next 4 weeks and if it remains elevated, you need to do a Renal Function Test primarily. Treatment may be decided later on. Consume less salt, have some fibre rich diet including fruits and vegetables, drink plenty of water and have some garlic daily either added in foods or in raw form.

Hi lybrate-user,
I appreciate you seeking help. First and foremost, I would advise you to consult a medical practitioner (allopathic or alternative medicine) for a clinical evaluation, assessment and treatment thereof. You may require to control the same through BP medications should it be an essential hypertension with no specific cause (idiopathic). Madam if your resting BP is high that is more than 140/90mmHg, you need lifestyle changes like daily 30 minutes brisk walk and low salt intake. If still after one month of this your BP is on bigger side you are having essential hypertension for which you need medications. If you will not take medicines just because of your false belief it will cause bad effects to your eyes, brain, blood Vessel's, Heart and kidneys. I personally suggest you this. Regards.
