What are the best home remedies for typhoid fever?

Typhoid fever is a common bacterial infection of the intestinal tract and bloodstream. It mostly occurs through contaminated food and water and once affected can take a real toll on your body. It will keep your body hydrated and will also encourage the elimination of toxins from your body. Drink about 8 to 10 glasses of water daily. Also, remember to boil the water whenever you drink it. You can also opt for herbal teas, fruit juices and glucose water.

  3. Homemade ORS:

    ORS (Oral rehydration solution) is also the best way to replenish your lost fluidity. This drastically prevents dehydration and reduces the intensity of typhoid symptoms. You can use the ORS packets available in the health stores which have been approved by the WHO. In case you want to make them at home, mix a pinch of salt and a teaspoon of sugar with a glass of water and drink it. You can drink this several times a day to avoid dehydration.

  4. Apple cider vinegar:

    Apple cider vinegar is acidic it helps to balance the pH in the body. It also helps to replace the minerals lossed by the body because of diarrhoea.

  5. Basil leaves:

    Basil leaves possess antibacterial and antibiotic properties. It helps to boost the immune system and fight against infection.

  6. Triphala:

    Triphala is one of the most effective home remedies as it inhibits the growth of the bacteria Salmonella typhi which is responsible for causing typhoid fever.

  7. Cloves:

    Cloves possess anti-bacterial properties that help to fight against bacterial infection. You can consume a clove after boiling it into water.

  8. Banana:

    Banana contains a fibre called pectin which promotes the absorption of fluids in the body. Bananas also help in the electrolyte balance due to the presence of potassium.

Summary: Typhoid can be treated by taking banana, cloves, basil leaves, garlic, apple cider vinegar, Triphala. Take homemade ORS. Increase your fluid intake and apply a cold compress.

Are there any side effects of remedies for typhoid fever?
