At thisyoung age of 5 yrs, you understand you might be thinking of finding some ways to reduce hyperactivity. But then this must be causing him non attention. But somehow this is too young age to start medication. You are required to learn different ways to deal with his hyperactivity, by engaging him in physical eye hand and muscular coordination activities whereby he will not only enjoy but learn to orient his physical excess energy.
