Oats and cornflakes are both are a good choice to have at breakfast and also keeps full for a longer period of time. But the cereals have different nutritional components.

Oats and cornflakes both are famous food and also convenient to make and are easily digestible...

But which one of them is the healthier choice? Let’s have a look at their nutritional values so that you can decide which of them to have for breakfast daily.

Oats

One of the important breakfast cereals oats has numerous health benefits. It is a kind of grain crop and is a kind of versatile food that is made after different stages of preparations.

It can be eaten by people of every age be it an infant or old. Oats contain a lot of fiber which makes it easily digestible and also reduces the level of cholesterol.

Cornflakes

Made out of milled corn, cornflakes are healthy food. A largest cash crop in the world cornflakes also contains iron, vitamins, sugar, corn syrup, and fructose.

The presence of milled corn makes corn flakes a light and healthy breakfast. Corn flakes also contain vitamin B, C, and D which are equally important for the body.

Side effects of eating oats vs cornflakes

Cons of Oats:

  • Oats are good for health but if you are pregnant or breastfeeding then it should be taken in limited quantity as it can cause blockage of the intestine.
  • If you have problem with chewing or if you face difficulty in swallowing then you should not eat oats.
  • Regular consumption of oats can create problems in the digestive tract, esophagus, stomach, and intestines.

Cons of Cornflakes:

  • Cornflakes lead to an increase in the blood sugar level, it is inflammatory thus should not be eaten by diabetic people.
  • Cornflakes do not contribute to weight loss as it contains a large number of carbohydrates
  • If you want to eat any corn-based food then you should stick to normal corns as all the food made out of corn contain corn syrup and vegetable oil and result in inflammation.

Conclusion:

Rich in protein, fiber, vitamins both cornflakes, and oats also helps in weight gain if incorporated with whole milk, creams, and nuts. Both oats and cornflakes have many health benefits and can be included in your regular diet but in a limited amount as there can be few side effects.
