What is the treatment?
Ovarian torsion mainly occurs when the ovary becomes twisted around the tissues; the tissues present around the ovary are mainly there to give support to the ovary at any instance. - Laparotomy: The doctor will make a larger opening in your lower abdomen with the surgical instruments. The opening is made in a manner that it allows the doctor to reach inside the body and untwist the ovary in a manual way. In this case also, the patients are given anesthesiology prior before the treatment. After the treatment, the patients are requested to stay overnight in the hospital for recovery.
- Oophorectomy: The ovary is removed by means of laparoscopic procedure.
- Sapling-Oophorectomy: The ovarian tissue and the fallopian tissues are removed by means of laparoscopic procedure, when both the tissues are found to be no longer viable.
