What is the treatment?

Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy is known to cure some medical conditions sooner than the conventional ways. Athletes are increasingly opting for this therapy for conditions like sprained ankles or knees, tennis elbow, chronic tendon injuries etc. as they are able to return to competitions much more quickly. The therapy cannot be done for every injury and on all parts of the body. Your overall health will also be considered before the treatment. Platelet-rich plasma therapy involves the withdrawal of blood from the arm of the patient and introducing the same in the affected region that needs to be treated. Since the treatment procedure involves the use of patients' own blood, it is completely safe and can be used for purposes of hair transplants, cosmetic transformations, and trauma as well as injury.

Can I do PRP at home?

Doing Platelet-rich plasma therapy at home is quite an unsafe and risky process according to the doctors. The procedure may lead to sepsis or infection of the blood. Besides this, there are other problems such as blindness. damage to nerves and ultimately death may occur.

Who is eligible for the treatment? (When is the treatment done?)

If you have had injuries like sprained ankles or knees, tennis elbow, chronic tendon injuries, acute ligament or muscle tear, knee arthritis or fracture, you may go for this therapy. Also, this is a good option if you want your injury to heal faster than it will through the conventional way of treatment.
