Symptoms Of Liver Cancer

A less or no desire to eat anything is indicating towards some psychological and medical problems. This desire can be also profound in liver cancer, accompanied by a feeling of fullness and does not wanted to eat more eve after consuming small amount of food. This sign is taken as warning sign for detection of not only liver cancer but also for other types of cancer that should be checked and confirmed by the healthcare professional.

Nausea or Vomiting

A person complaining of sense of nausea in between meals or small meals and at the time of bedtime snacks along with feeling of upset stomach, increased saliva and clamminess, it can be caused by different things like constipation, cancer (affecting brain), diseases of upper digestive system etc. There are chances of occurrence of nausea and vomiting like symptoms in all stages of cancer because in each and every stage, tumor is growing. People experiencing persistent nausea and vomiting should consult a doctor before its get worsen.

An enlarged liver, felt as fullness under the ribs on the right side

As the tumor progresses, it is accumulating more area in the liver and being a football sized organ, liver become more enlarged as compared to normal liver. This type of enlargement of liver is pressurizing the rib cage and producing pain, discomfort and aches on the right region of abdomen. At such circumstances, a person can easily feel edges of his liver at the lower abdomen region that should be limited to rib cages border of right side in normal condition. When this area is pressed, a mass or lump can be felt which can be painless in some cases and painful in common cases of liver cancer.

An enlarged spleen, felt as fullness under the ribs on the left side

Spleen is an organ located on the left side of upper abdomen region under the rib cage. If this spleen is enlarged, it is termed medically as splenomegaly and can be determined only after physical examination. Cirrhosis or cancer of liver , blood cancer, metabolic disorder like Gaucher’s diseases, hemolytic anemia etc. are considered as basic cause behind such enlargement of spleen. This enlargement of spleen is pressurizing the left side of rib cage and causing pain in left region of abdomen as well as to left shoulder.

Pain in the abdomen (belly) or near the right shoulder blade

Liver is an organ located at right side down in rib cage and any problem or disease related to liver is alerting person through shoulder-blade pain. The nerves transmitting signals from liver to other parts of body is getting damaged because of growth of tumor and causing pain typically in right shoulder region, spreading or extending to the back side of the body. If a person experiences such pain without any physical activity, he must visit physician.

Swelling or fluid build-up in the abdomen (belly)

A feeling of swelling in abdomen area along with weight gain is indicators of ascites in the body that are developed due to retention of fluid. Such type of fluid retention or ascite formation is considered as primary sign of liver disease or cancer. In this condition, fluid is accumulated in the body’s peritoneum cavity and give feel of nauseated, less hunger, tiredness, breathlessness, and urinary urgency. Once abdominal swelling or ascites like symptoms are observed or experienced, a person should consult doctor on immediate basis.

Itching

An excess production of bile products by the liver cells are settling down at the skin. Such pigments are causing damage to skin where skin thinning, sensation of intense itching is felt. A person with itching and yellowish skin along with unexplained loss of weight should consult medical practitioner for detection of cause behind such symptoms as they are linked to liver only. A liver dysfunction is primary associated with itchy skin and jaundice like symptoms.

Yellowing of the skin and eyes (jaundice)

Jaundice is a condition where a person is easily detecting change in white areas of eyes, and nails of hand and feet along with change in skin color to yellow. This yellowish appearance of skin, eyes and nails are associated with the excess production of bile products by the liver cells or damage to the biliary duct in the liver. Bile products are secreted by the liver cells and eliminated through stool and other excretion processes. High amount of bile pigments are deposited in areas like skin, eyes and nails giving yellowish appearance which can be a sign of liver damage or cancer.
