The tenure of tonsillitis depends on what type of tonsillitis it is. If it is of viral nature, it lasts usually from four to six days. Antibiotics become ineffective and it takes a little more time for recovery. If tonsillitis is of the bacterial nature, it can last up to 10 to 14 days.

I have not heard of tonsil stone but they do occur in salivary glands. These need to be removed and and analysed to take the necessary precautions for reformation.

Yes it is a common cause for foreign body sensation in the throat. It is called a tonsillolith. It is usually harmless and is due to collection of food particles in the tonsillar crypts (burrows). A good oral hygiene is essential with throat gargling. If the condition is too troublesome please consult your nearest ENT surgeon.
