Vaser Liposuction: Treatment, Procedure, Cost and Side Effects

Last Updated: Nov 20, 2024

What is the treatment?

Vaper liposuction, also known as Lipo Selection, is an alternative to the traditional liposuction. People actual avail the treatment to improve the aesthetics of a particular body part and this is done by removing the fatty acid deposits from beneath the skin. It differs from liposuction in the way that liposuction is a process by which people tend to lose weight while the vaper treatment is generally undergone by a person in good physical condition. Vaper treatment is availed by people who are looking for contouring or body sculpting.

Vaser ultrasonic liposuction uses sound waves to loosen fat gently and is the first step towards liposuction and smooth contouring of the body. This treatment uses ultrasound energy to melt fat and this fat is removed through a thin tube called cannula. This process, therefore, makes it easy to remove fat and is most useful to be used in areas which have larger volumes and denser fats. This method utilizes a lesser aggressive approach and therefore makes it easy for a person to recover. It is not essentially to lose fat but to address fat that is resistant to fat and exercise.

Nevertheless, this treatment runs the risk of burns.

How is the treatment done?

The vaser liposuction treatment requires a saline solution mixed with anesthetics (also known as tumescent liquid) to be injected into the body area that is being treated. This method uses ultrasound high frequency to break fat cells instead of manual movement or laser or water pressure to break down the fat. Vaser ultrasonic probes are inserted into the fatty tissue to break down the fatty cells. The vibration loosens the fat cells and emulsifies the tumescent liquid that has been injected in the area of the body that is being treated. As the emulsification process starts, a small cannula is used to remove the liquid and the fat cells. The local anesthetic that remains in the area helps to deal with the post-procedural pain.

The process offers the cosmetic surgeon greater control and a person is able to get the smooth and contoured look that he/she wants. Vaser liposuction uses the sline solution that causes less bleeding and bruising and protects and preserves other tissues.

Areas of the body like thighs, knees, abdomen, love handles, chest, arms, neck and chin are well-suited for this treatment. General anesthesia is used in this treatment and this helps to reduce health risks in patients and lowers the overall cost of the treatment.

Who is eligible for the treatment? (When is the treatment done?)

Vaser liposuction is generally used to improve the aesthetics of a particular part of a body and not to necessarily lose weight. This treatment is undertaken by people who are more or less healthy and are looking for contouring or body sculpting. People who want to treat fibrous areas like upper abdomen and back can surely undertake this treatment. People who want to extract large volumes of fat are also eligible for this treatment as the ultrasound waves can break up and liquefy even large areas of fat.

Who is not eligible for the treatment?

People who have not been able to maintain a healthy weight for six months or more are not deemed to be healthy in medical terms. Such people are not eligible for vaser liposuction. Similarly a person who smokes regularly or is under certain types of medications is not eligible for this treatment as certain complications may arise.

Are there any side effects?

The risks associated with vaper liposuction are relatively less compared to surgical liposuction. However, some risks are involved as the process is after all a medical procedure. The ultrasound device which is used to heat and liquefy may burn the skin and tissues. Sometimes, the skin, from where excess fat was removed, becomes saggy, dimpled and wavy as they do not respond to tightening. Vaser liposuction can cause discoloration of skin and changes in skin pigmentation.

What are the post-treatment guidelines?

There is generally some swelling in the treated areas after a person undergoes vaper liposuction. It takes an average of 16-24 days for a person to recover from the swelling. After the treatment, skin retraction should be controlled and monitored in order to get the best aesthetic result. If this is not done, the skin can retract unevenly and cause wrinkles, dimples or folds. It is necessary to wear compression garments throughout the day at least for a week after the surgery. A person has to visit a doctor so as undergo some treatments to accelerate the process of reduction of swelling and bruising. Anti-biotic care may have to given to patients who have suffer from post-operative infections.

How long does it take to recover?

The swelling that occurs due to vaper liposuction usually recedes in about 24 days. The normal time period required for the bruising to subside is generally 16 days. Again, about 16 days are required for patients to get over the numbness in areas where the therapy has been done. This treatment does not have any such harsh implications but a person requires about 3 week time to get over the initial side-effects.

What is the price of the treatment in India?

The cost of liposuction varies from Rs 35000 – Rs 180000 and it depends on where from you are receiving the treatment. However the approximate rates for performing this procedure in different parts of the body are as follows: Rs 40000 for the neck, Rs 136000 for abdomen, Rs 27000 for chin, Rs 57000 for arm, Rs 1,20000 for thighs and Rs 60000 – Rs 80000 for the buttocks.

Are the results of the treatment permanent?

Vaser liposuction helps to remove genetic fat deposits that cannot be easily removed by exercising. The main benefit of this treatment is that helps you to get in good shape by removing excess fat. However, you need to lead a healthy lifestyle in order to prevent your body from going back to its old self. A person should exercise regularly and avoid having sweets and fast foods so as to maintain the sculpted look that the treatment has provided him/her.

What are the alternatives to the treatment?

Vaser liposuction is a low-impact body sculpting procedure and there is no other procedure that can replicate its functions. However, laser liposuction is another procedure which is used to remove fat but it generally treats small areas. Laser therapy uses laser to melt the fat in contrast to ultrasound which is used in vaser treatment.
