What is veneers dental treatment?
Veneers are an aesthetic solution to your crooked teeth problems. They are fixed over the problematic teeth and give a false impression of straight teeth. If you have crooked teeth and do not want to invest your time in correcting them through braces, veneers are a great option.
Veneers dental treatment also work if the issue with your smile is primarily aesthetic. A veneer is a very thin shell or layer of tooth coloured porcelain or composite. While fixing the veneer, a very small amount of natural tooth material will be removed to ensure that the veneer does not look or feel bulky. It will then be held in place with a special strong bond.
Veneers may sometimes break or get damaged if the tooth is knocked. In some cases, they may be glued back while sometimes, they may have to be replaced. The material used for white fillings may also be used to build veneers directly upon the tooth. A mild acid will be used to roughen the tooth’s surface and then, the white material will be applied in thin layers until the teeth regain their appearance.

If you have severely dull or discoloured teeth, veneers are a good option for you. They will enhance the appearance of your mouth, smile and other facial features.

If your natural teeth are functionally and aesthetically adequate, your doctor will not suggest you to go for veneers.

You may have a tugging sensation for a few days. It may take a little while in getting used to the veneers. Other than this, they do not have any side effects.

You should make sure that no external pressure is put on the veneer. Take care of the rest of your teeth. Maintain good oral hygiene, brush and floss your teeth daily.
How long does it take to recover?
Your dental veneers treatment will be done in two sessions. In the first session, your dentist will take a mould of your teeth so that your veneers are made according to the size of your existing teeth. The second session will take place after two to four weeks after your veneers are ready. You may need just 2-3 days to resume your daily activities after getting them fixed.
