Maybe some bacterias will be present in that food and causes stomach upset or so, but can u kindly explain when it happen and what signs and symptoms ur daughter has shown after eating the food. Actually, the problem maybe like the pup is not feeling comfortable when lifted up, maybe it's feared of hieght, or else it maybe not that much comfortable being hold, becoz it maybe felt like it's trapped in a place and couldn't able to move as it likes. These maybe the reasons I feel.
