Benefits of yoga for erectile dysfunction

Erectile dysfunction is a condition wherein a person has trouble maintaining an erection for having sex. People suffering from this condition usually opt for medications to provide necessary relief from the condition. One of the most natural remedies which a person can opt for is yoga. Yoga over the years has proven to be helpful in alleviating various health problems affecting the people. The problem of erectile dysfunction can be very easily treated with yoga as this problem is mostly related to the mind than the body.

There are various asanas in yoga that provide relief in the problem of erectile dysfunction. Doing yoga strengthens the muscles around back, abdomen, and shoulders. It also improves the flexibility of the muscles in the middle of the back. Yoga improves the blood supply to the muscles surrounding the anal area. The improvement in the blood circulation in the pelvic region helps a person in sustaining an erection. The asanas of yoga stimulate the muscles in the pelvic region. Doing yoga relieves a person of all the stress plaguing the mind of the person thereby making the mind calm. There have been studies which indicate that the sexual performance of an individual improves if he/she does regular yoga. Given below are some of the asanas that help in alleviating the problem of erectile dysfunction.

Seated Forward Bend

Sit straight on a yoga mat and extend both of your legs in front of you. Ensure that your knees are straight. Now place your hands on the thighs and slowly bend your body forward till you are able to grab your toes with your hands. Hold this pose between a minute and three minutes. This posture promotes better blood flow in the pelvic region, especially for those who have been seated for long periods of time.

Standing Forward Bend

Perform this yoga by first standing straight and placing your hands on the hips. From this position, bend your upper body, while keeping your knees straight. Extend your hands toward the ground, but do not try to touch your toes. Hold this pose for half a minute. It will help deal with ED and also stimulates the abdominal organs.

Bound Angle Pose

Start by sitting down and extending your legs in front of you. Now fold your legs toward your pelvis. Once the legs are completely folded, bring the knees down on either sides of your body and grab on to your ankles with both hands. Stay in this position for a maximum of 5 minutes. It helps stimulate abdominal organs and also enhances the thigh and groin muscles.

Head-To-Knee Pose

To perform this posture, sit straight and extend both legs in front of you. Now fold one leg and bring the knee toward your pelvis. Bring the knee of the folded leg on the side of the body, so that the heel touches the thigh region of the other leg. Now raise your hands above your head and bend your upper body so that the nose touches the knee of the extended leg. This pose helps increase blood flow to the pelvic region.

Conclusion

Doing only yoga for alleviating the problem of erectile dysfunction may take an appropriate amount of time. However, this process can be speeded up if yoga is complimented with a healthy diet comprising of food products that help in improving the condition of erectile dysfunction. A person suffering from the problem of erectile dysfunction must include greeny leafy vegetables like spinach and celery in their diet as they improve the circulation of blood. Foods rich in nitrates like beet juice must be incorporated in the diet of the person. Nitrates work as vasodilators. Researchers have revealed that consuming nuts like pistachio provides significant improvement in issues related to erectile dysfunction.

Foods rich in zinc like oyster and shellfish can be included in the diet as they stimulate the release of a sex hormone in a person. Incorporating fruits rich in phytonutrients like watermelon is beneficial as it relaxes the blood vessels which provide erection in a person. If a person is under the medical treatment of a doctor then medicine must be taken regularly as advised by the doctor as medicines also play an important role in the treatment of erectile dysfunction.
