Benefits of yoga for sinus

A person suffers from the problem of sinus when there is an inflammation in the cavities of the skull. There are various reasons because of which a person can suffer from the problem of sinus but the primary causes of sinus are fungal and viral infections. A person has to take various medications to get relief from the problem of the sinus. However, yoga is a one stop solution for providing natural treatment to the problem of the sinus. Yoga boosts the immunity system of a person.

Yoga provides help in regaining the balance of the body along with providing relief from allergic nasal conditions. Yoga helps in keeping both the mind and the body calm and composed. Doing yoga makes it easier for a person to breathe since it has the capability of opening up the nostrils thereby permitting a smooth flow of air in the nostrils. Yoga also provides assistance in clearing up the throat region as well so that sinus problem can be alleviated. There are asanas in yoga that provide flexibility to the chest region to support the lungs along with reducing the stress and anxiety. Yoga improves the blood circulation in the body so that freshly oxygenated blood help in providing relief from the condition. Frontal Brain Cleansing Exercise

It is very beneficial for treating sinus problems by clearing nasal blockages and providing relief during cold and cough, rhinitis, sinusitis and other respiratory problems. Sit in a normal position with your legs folded and spine erect. Keep your face and mind calm and relaxed. Inhale and then exhale forcefully while contracting your abdominal muscles. Do this for 10 minutes.

Downward

This yoga pose is also beneficial for treating sinusitis. Start by lying on your belly. Bring the hands close to your chest by your side. Slowly raise your hip towards the ceiling, making sure you resemble an inverted v. Keep your spine and legs straight. Hold the position for few seconds and then return to original position.

Cow’s Face Pose

It is helpful for numerous respiratory issues including sinusitis. Start with a sitting position and make your spine erect. Place your left leg over your right leg making sure your left heel touch the right buttock. Then take your left hand and bring it at the back of your shoulder from below while the right hand will come from above the head. Clasp your fingers to provide you support and stability. Maintain the position for a few seconds and then repeat with other leg.

Standing Forward Pose

This helps in relieving nasal blockage and congestion. Start with a standing position. Make sure your feet are little apart and then raise your hand while inhaling. Then exhale and bring your hands down while bending forward. You can either touch the ground with your fingers or bring your hands behind the legs. Stay and breath normally and then return to original position.

Other than yoga there are certain food products which when added to the diet help in alleviating the problem of the sinus. Drinking a sufficient amount of fluid is necessary when a person suffers from the problem of sinus since hydration provides assistance to the white blood cells function with an increased intensity which results in improving the immune system. Including anti-inflammatory food like omega-3 fatty acids and carotenoids in the diet have shown to be effective in the sinus problem.

Antibacterial food products like garlic when added to meal help fight the bacteria that can cause sinus. Incorporating green tea in the diet can help in relieving the symptoms of sinus. Consuming healthy food not only helps in the body to support the immune system but it improves the overall quality of life. If a person is under the treatment of a doctor for the problem of sinus then he/she must take the medicine for sinus as prescribed by the doctor since medicine also plays a pivotal role in the treatment of sinus. Eating a healthy diet, taking medicine and doing yoga regularly help in alleviating sinus.
