Respected doctors ,I need your guidance. Pls help me out. M in extreme anxiety. I was exposed to HIV 48 days back. At 15th day PCR RNA &HIv duo test was negative ,western blot test at 28 days negative ,PCR DNA at 36 days was negative. I have one doubts. On 2nd and 3rd day after exposure I took truvada and couldn't continue due to side effects. So my doubt is -due to two pills of truvada can I get false negatives in PCR DNA after 36 days? Can there be a delay for virus to show up in blood due to two pills of truvada?

HIV: After you've been exposed to HIV / infected, it can take 2 weeks to 6 months for your body to start making HIV antibodies. This means that during this time you could have a negative HIV test, even though you have been infected and can spread the virus to others. This is commonly called the "window period, or seroconversion period. If the tests are negative for six months, it can be taken for granted that there is no infection.

If PCR is negative on two occasions till 28 days, nothing to worry about HIV. But, pl. Also get tested for Hepatitis-B and Syphilis. Take Hep-B vaccine.
