Sir my son aged 8 years old name Siddhartha having thyroid swelling thyroid test T3 T4 AND TSH and ultrasound carried out and found all normal and doctor said it is a you thyroid and need not to be worried. But my question is why is that swelling and is it leads to any trouble in the future. He has no pain at the neck.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. SOme times there can be a single swelling in the thyroid gland without any problem. This is called as solitary thyroid nodule with normal (Eu thyroid) thyroid function. It may not cause any problem at all. But once a year check up should be done to see if the size has increased or any other changes are there in thyroid hormones. Thanks.
