Hello Lybrate user, abscess anywhere indicates pus and infection, in our mouth abscess can be mostly due to infection i.e cavity in our tooth or due to infection of gums (gingival abcess). If your tooth looks healthy sk your dentist to take an xray (IOPA) of that particular tooth. With an xray you can easily detect the infection in or around your teeth. Also if you press your tooth you feel pain or a little relief then abcess is due to the tooth. If not that it is due to infection of gums. Hope this helps.
