My legs veins are visible (or varicose veins) very predominantly, what can be the reasons? I am diabetic age 50 yrs, female,weight 60 kg. Blood sugar under control.

Hello, Thanks for the query. Vericose veins is a fairly common condition. Diabetes has nothing do with it. It is a separate condition. If it becomes more troublesome, better to consult a surgeon and take a decision on the method of treatment to overcome. Thanks.

Varicose veins or visible prominent veins are caused mostly due to prolonged hours of standing during work or due to weakness of the valves. You will require to get a Doppler scan of the legs to check for the severity of the problem. Diabetes and it's symptoms can have a deteriorating effect, but don't have any direct causative role in the varicose veins. Please see a vascular surgeon who is the best equipped to treat you.
