I was diagnosed with small kidney stones measuring 3.4 mm in the upper calyx of left kidney. Doc said it will go naturally & was given neeri tablets initially. Later I consulted an urologist who prescribed urimax 0.2 mg. My second lab report after few days measured the stone with 2 mm. The medicines are not helping. I also have constant UTIs. Will this ever get healed naturally?

Hi lybrate-user, small stones inside the kidney cannot be removed within a few days. Only painful stones (which are blocking the ureter) get passed within a few hours to few days. Moreover, 2 mm stone cannot be diagnosed with accuracy in ultrasound. It will not harm you immediately. Just drink a lot of fluids and take citrus fruits regularly. Get a repeat ultrasound after 3 months. For UTI, you need to be evaluated directly by a Urologist. If there is an underlying precipitating factor, that needs to be corrected. If no underlying factor is found, you can follow general precautions for preventing UTI like increased fluid intake, voiding after intercourse, proper toilet hygiene, avoiding constipation, taking curd regularly etc. Sometimes you may need low dose antibiotic prophylaxis. This will be decided by your Urologist. Wish you good health
