Hi my daughter has had episodes of viral fever, followed by hand foot and mouth virus and two days back she recovered from viral gastroenteritis. All this started after she joined playschool. Is there some medicines or health supplements that can build her immunity.

Frequent infections are known to occur during the first six months of play school. Ideally children should not be sent to play school before they are two and a half years old. Ensure that the child has completed her routine immunisation and she is not anaemic. Also ensure that the school environment is hygienic and proper hand washing precautions are followed. Iron and vitamin d supplements may help if the child is deficient.

Hi, when you ask about children it is helpful to answer if you include their age and weight. As in your case, when children go to playschools, they get frequently infected from other children as they mingle closely and get frequent infections. Generally speaking it cannot be thought to be due to lack of immunity and as children grow they will gain immunity from common forms of viruses and bacteria and frequency of falling sick will reduce. That is the natural case. However, as you asked for immunity boosting medicines, I use colmune spray (to be sprayed twice onto tongue and swallowed, twice a day). It has good taste and children will take it easily. Or there is another immunity building drug imubless sachets, containing powder which can be dissolved in little water and given twice a day.
