Dear lybrateuser, - To reduce your blood pressure follow some lifestyle changes, - have a well balanced diet with more of fruits, vegetables especially green leafy ones, whole grains instead of refined ones, legumes, sprouts, a handful of nuts such as almonds, walnuts, pista, cashews, seeds such as flax, sesame, heart healthy fats as in fish, salmon, tuna, mackeral( at least two servings per week), olive, canola or sun flower oil for cooking, avocados, nuts, seeds - have a salt restricted diet, avoid deep fried, processed & junk food, also restrict tea, coffee to 1-2 cups per day, avoid alcohol & smoking if you do - try to reduce weight by diet & exercise which will bring your bp down by a few points - do regular exercise such as walking, jogging, swimming, yoga & deep breathing - destress by sleeping well for at least 7-8 hrs at night, reading, listening to music or follow a hobby - if there is not much change by following these changes for 3months then you will require medication to lower your bp.
