My wife has recently undergone her thyroid test. The level of TSH is 5.65 the reference range is 0.3- 5.5. The doctor suggested to take additional thyronorm tablet of 12.5 mcg along with thyronorm 50 mcg. Can she continue the same or any other change is required?

She is still in subclinical hypothyrodism. Thyronorm is not required at this stage. Please statrt her on Thyrowell (a multivitamin and multimineral tab for thyroid gland) after dinner daily for 2 months and get the TSH test done after 2 months.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. When on treatment for hypothyroidism with adequate dosaage of Levothyroxine, TSH is maintained around 3 to 4 mU/L at that level all the symptoms are in check. Since her TSH is a bit high, doctor ahs suggested an additional dosage. Thanks.
