I have pcos and hypothyroidism. I take Eltroxin 75 regularly. Is green tea bad for me? I take 2 cups of green tea regularly. I feel very energetic after take it. Is green tea bad for hypothyroidism?

Hi while green tea has many benefits it may not be great for patients with hypthyroidism. Studies have shown that green tea has high fluoride content which can affect thyroid hormone production. So it would be in the beat interest to limit intake of green tea.

lybrate-user ji, Thanks for the query. Green tea is fine, there is no problem at all. But it is very essential to maintain TSH levels around 3 to 4 mU/L to be free from symptoms of hypothyroidism. Thanks.
