I have been using hydroquinone cream for 6 years Gradually I minimise the application to 4 days a week then alternate days. From 1 month I started noticing a dark patch over both my zygomatic area. I google about it and thought it is ochronosis then immediately consult a dermatologist. Prescribed with clobetasol propionate cream advised applying over the patch daily night for 1 month. And also advised by a doctor to use the hydroquinone once a week then gradually to stop using. But I google about the clobetasol cream and I am scared now to use this as this is also a steroid cream and as it may also lead to ochronosis .i need some 2nd opinion abt this as there's no result over the dark patch and if I discontinue clobetasol after 1 month are there any chances that the patch will appear more prominent? Please help me out of this.

It is not advisable to apply a high potent steroid like clobetasol propionate on face as potent steroid on the thin skin will produce more side effect and quickly. And why not to stop hydroquinon immediately? There are lots of available products in the Indian market that are without hydroquinon.
