Hi, I am having TSH value 6.72 currently. And I am 9 weeks of pregnancy. My age 29. Doctor suggested me to use 50 mcg tablets. And they are using HCG injection every week. And before the pregnancy I didn't have thyroid. During pregnancy only I got this value. In internet sources I found that, high level values will effect the baby mental ability and so on in the first trimester. And I am in the first trimester so..... This is getting me tension. Can I know the correct information.

Hypothyroidism while you are pregnant can have significant adverse health effects on the unborn baby, and so maternal hypothyroidism should be avoided. If you are hypothyroid prior to pregnancy, the Guidelines recommend that your�dosage be adjusted so that TSH is below 2.5 mIU/L prior to conception. This lowers the risk of the TSH elevating in the first trimester.
