Sir 2 month before I have thyroid report with tsh level 4.23 ,t3 141 ,t4 12.6 .doctor advice me to take thyroxine 50 mcg. Now I again do thyroid test and my tsh goes down to less than .01. Because of its I have heart palpitations. .can I take anti thyroid medicine.

Lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Hypothyroidism is diagnosed only when TSH level goes beyond 10 mU/L. Or in some cases with lower level (6 to 9.9 mU/L, subclinical) and having some troublesome symptoms of hypothyroidism. With a level of 4.23 mU/L you did not have hypothyroidism. Therefore, with thyroxine intake TSH has gone down. You should stop taking that medication. Then check TSH again after 6 to 8 weeks. Lower levels of TSH are required to be maintained in pregnancy, say around 2mU/L. If you have any doubts please do come back. Thanks.
