I have t3 t4 normal but tsh level is 9 .one doc said that if no problem then no need to start thyronorm but a cardiologist told me to start thyronorm 25 for one month if it comes down than leave it. L took thyronorm 25 for one month it came down to 4 so l left it but later after 3 month l again got blood test for TSH it was 14. Now again I am taking Thyronorm 25. What is the reason for increase in TSH?

Stress or anxiety may be the reason. You should continue it without stopping it. But we have alternative natural remedies in homeopathy which you can continue along with homeopathy without any side effects. Then later we can cure thyroid problems and stop all medicines r.eply details to whatsapp

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. TSH between 6 to 9.9 mU/L is considered as sub-clinical hypothyroidism. Usually no treatment is advocated unless there are troublesome symptoms present. When TSH goes above 10 mU/L hypothyroidism is diagnosed and treatment is suggested. In your case, it is possible that you have now developed that condition. No specific reason can be attributed. Since TSH has increased to 14mU/L, you will have to continue taking Levothyroxine, but dosage needs to be increased. Ideally TSH should be maintained<5 mU/L. Thanks.

Your TSH is high because of hypothyroidism for which you have to take medicine regularly and most probably indefinitely.
