Hello I'm 23 old Female I have done my thyroid test my TSH level was diagnosed 5.23miul & my weight is 90 kgs & my gynecologist prescribed me 125 mg Thyronorm Medicines which I haven't started yet. Also I was diagnosed with PCOS & I didn't get my periods from last 4 month's. Please advise should I start taking 125 mg Thyronorm Medicines as prescribed by doctor to regulate my periods & to control my weight?

Lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Looking at your weight and height, it is clear that with a BMI of 35.15 kgs/Sq meter (normal < 23 kgs/Sq Met), you are already having grade 2 obesity. This does lead to PCOD. But with TSH 5.23 mU/L, there is no hypothyroidism, unless you have high anti-TPO antibodies titre. (Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, HT). Therefore, I am not sure why 125 mcg of thyroxine has been prescribed. To control PCOD there are other drugs needed along with reduction in weight. If you have any questions please come back. But TSH at 5.23 mU/L there is no need for thyroxine. Thanks.
