Dear lybrateuser, - You can try to quit smoking on your own & if find it difficult then can consult a doctor or a NGO or any organisation that helps a person quit smoking - you have to strengthen your will power and determination to quit - decide a firm date & stop completely thereafter, you cannot reduce & stop it as then it becomes very difficult to give up due to the Nicotine deficiency - remove all articles connected with it from your home or from wherever you keep them, they should be out of your reach especially when urge is there - inform friends & relatives so that no one forces you to have one - keep your mind busy when urge is there, talk to a friend, do exercise, play a game, watch TV so that your mind is diverted & you overcome your urge - also can try nicotine gum or lozenges when urge is there as per the recommendation on the pack - take by help if you still find it difficult.
