I have done my thyroid reports as below- On 6 May 2018 T3--0.87 T4--5.9 TSH- 21.763 Suggesting Hypothyroidism, Then, upon consultation with doctor, I started Thyroxine sod. 100 mcg tablet OD and supplements like Ganoderma capsule 500 mg, Flaxseed oil capsules 500 mg and Noni capsules 500 mg. On 25 July 2018 T3-- 103. T4--6.7 TSH--1.53 Suggesting Thyronolmalcy. Upon consultation with doctor, I continued above 3 supplement capsules and Thyroxine sod. Tablet halved (i.e 50 mcg). On 30 DEC 2018 T3--51 T4--4.1 TSH-- >150 Suggesting Hypothyroidism. My query is, How such drastic change in TSH from previous report as well as from normal range, is possible? Is it medically correct/possible? If it is correct then what should I do to prevent hypothyroidism? Would you please explain which type of hypothyroidism is this? And causes and measures to cure hypothyroidism? How it can affect pregnancy planning and ways to cure?

Hello, Thanks for the query. You are having hypothyroidism, this is a hormone thyroxine deficiency disease. Only treatment is to take adequate dosage of Levothyroxine for lifetime. Ideally TSH should be maintained around 3 to 4 mU/L, at which level all the symptoms are in check. There should not be a drastic reduction in dosage, which can lead to sudden upsetting of control with significant increase in TSH. Since your TSH has gone up very high there's a need to again increase the dosage. Hypothyroidism affects menstruation and ovulation. High TSH will not allow conception. Plus it affects fetal brain development, intelligence and outcomes of pregnancy. There's No Cure for hypothyroidism. Thanks.
