I am female, my age is 52 years. Since 2002 I am taking thyroid tablet and now I am taking thyronorm 62.5 mcg. Before few days my feet were little swollen so I visited doctor and he gave me telsartan 40 mg tablet after taking that regularly, I became so weak that I could not able to stand by myself and I am not able to speak much. When I consulted another doctor he said that my body does not need this thyroid and bp tablets and the thyroid tablet is making my body weak. Please suggest me to how can I stop using these tablets forever and get rid of my weakness.

lybrate-user ji, thanks for the query. Madam I have seen the details, which are not complete. You have mentioned only about thyroxine dosage (62.5 mcg), but there is no mention of tsh levels. Because when you on treatment for hypothyroidism, with adequate dose, tsh should be maintained around 3 to 4 mu/l. Plus there is also no mention of your bp readings, so there is no way to comment. I am unable to understand how some doctor can say that thyroxine and telmisartan are causing the problem, without the above details. You either meet an endocrinologist or one who has advised the treatment, or come online with all the above details, because abruptly stopping thyroxine treatment can lead to some complications. I hope you understand. Thanks.
