Hello sir/mam I am 31w+4 days pregnant. My parents are diabetic. Now I am also suffering from elevated blood sugar level. Both sgot and sgpt are highly increased and after taking metformin 500 mg, fasting is 155. I am on complete bed rest please suggest me the best.

Hello, thanks for the query. Madam please give following details: 1) when did you notice high glucose levels? 2) have done an oral glucosetolerance test (ogtt)? 3) why are you on metformin and since when? During pregnancy glucose levels have to be maintained between 90 to 120 mg / 100 ml through out the day. If levels are higher then insulin has to be started. Please contact a local diabetologist or competent physician and start insulin to bring your glucose levels under strict control. High levels are not good for the baby and for final outcome of the pregnancy. If you have any questions please do come back. But please consult a good physician urgently. Thanks.
