Hi! I am juliet chris, I am diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis & type 2 diabetes mellitus for the past 3 years. I am on metformin 1000 mg & glimepiride 10 mg 2 times a day and pancroflat 25000 mg with meals for pancreatitis. I am on normal restricted & controlled diet & some light exercise every day. No alcohol, no smoking, no deep fry, less oil and masala. My sugar levels are just soring to 205- 215 on rbs. And f 165 pp 205. But my sugar levels are not coming down. My doctor prescribed sitagliptin 50 mg a day, but whenever I take sitagliptin my stomach feels full and I get belches of indigestion. I stopped taking sitagliptin. Please help me how to reduce my sugar levels alternatively.

Hi Mr. lybrate-user! as you have chronic pancreatitis, I would advise you not to take sitagliptin and other drugs belonging to that class, i.e, dpp4 inhibitors. Good that you stopped it. As the sugars, especially fasting bloood sugars are high inspite of taking a high dose of tablets, you may consider taking insulin at night which will bring down the fasting value.
