What is the lower detection limit of hiv1 rna qualitative pcr test? I hv done this test from thyrocare mumbai lab 8 month after exposure. My report is 'non detected and lower detection limit of the test is mentioned 100 copies /ml.

Hello. The sensitivity of a particular test determines the lower levels of the viral load it can detect. Some test now can detect 50 copies/ml or even 20 copies/ ml of blood. Please see, as the test is done by you at 8 months after exposure shows "undetectable" you are HIV negative if this you want to know. Just for general info- a 4th gen antigen, the antibody test is the recommended test for 1st screening after a suspected exposure. Thanks.
